I recently learned from Rob's sisters that he died tragically in car accident in Lodi, CA, in 1988. He left behind 1 month old twins who have grown up to be wonderful young adults.
I wondered for years what happened to Rob after graduation. I never dreamt he was gone, and at such a young age. Rob shared my last name, and acted as a brother to me. He was always kind, caring, funny, steady--just a great young man. From intimidating bullies so they would stop bothering me, to getting me tickets to a Star Trek mini-convention, to giving me rides when my car was unavailable, he was a rock. His mom, dad, and younger sister were also terrific people. It breaks my heart that he didn't get to watch his children grow up. I wish I could tell them what a terrific person their father was.
